OMG Oatmeal

I don't really care for oatmeal, at least, not the fruit flavored kind. You all know how much I don't like fruit in my desserts. Well, same goes for my oatmeal. In fact, ever since I was a kid oatmeal has just been a very questionable substance. Pale, mushy, what is it?? There's only two kinds of oatmeal I like. The chocolate chip kind of the dinosaur eggs kind.

A few months ago I said to my mom, "Remember that oatmeal that had dinosaur eggs in it? You'd cook the oatmeal and then instead of eggs you'd have dinosaurs!" I got excited thinking about it. Little did I know that my mom would then choose to surprise me by running to the store and seeing if they still made the dinosaur oatmeal.

The oatmeal was good, yes, but still a little flavorless. Recently I started mixing in peanut butter and honey to give it its "oomf."
Peanut butter, check. Honey, check. Oatmeal, check.
Can you see the eggs? Can you see them?!?!
I don't know how you all make your oatmeal, but my mom says the directions on the packets are rubbish and to follow these couple steps for better oatmeal. It says something about boiling half a cup of water, but instead of that, poor in half a cup of milk. Microwave the stuff for one minute. Stir. Microwave for another minute. It's going to seem pretty dry, so add in some more milk (eyeball it; amounts will very depending on how liquidy you want your oatmeal).
After that, take a spoonful of peanut butter and mix it in. Then drizzle on some honey. Add a tiny bit more milk if needed. Then wah lah! You've got yourself a bowl of awesome oatmeal that tastes great.

Rockin' Ramen

I love Ramen noodles. And I mean love. I make it probably every other day for myself. So naturally I'm always trying to think of different things to go along with it. For instance, the other day I took my Ramen noodles, sprinkled cheese over the top, slapped down a turkey burger, sprinkled cheese on that, cut it up, and slathered Ranch over the load. It was delicious. Now yesterday I made mashed potatoes to go on the side.

Pick your Ramen. Whether it's chicken, beef, turkey, shrimp, or some other flavor I have yet to hear about.
Pick your mashed potatoes. I picked this kind because the box was orange and I thought that meant the mashed potatoes were cheese flavored. =/

Make your Ramen however you make it, but drain the water. Sprinkle some cheese onto the noodles, slap on some mashed potatoes, and mix it all together!
Om nom nom nom!

Blueberry Power!

I didn't get the chance to actually post on Labor Day, but I did do some cooking! While waiting for my older sibling to come home from Madison for the holiday I made some blueberry muffins.

Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups frozen blueberries, unthawed
Topping:
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Personally, I find it easier to just toss in all the dry ingredients first and then the liquid ones. So I kind of jump around a lot while following a recipe. Fortunately, muffins and cookies don't really have a specific order. Just throw all the ingredients in and mix them together.

Now, I really don't like fruit in my desserts, so when I started making blueberry muffins I was a bit hesitant and thinking that I wouldn't eat any and just make them for everyone else.

We were out of spray for the pan, but little decorative cups are a nice substitute. Especially since you can easily pull them out of the pan when they're done cooking and place them on the rack. No spray, no knife, no burns, no waste.

Oven should be preheated to 375. Muffins can cook for 20-25 minutes or until a light brown.

You should be able to make a little over two dozen. (I was able to make twenty seven muffins.) But it really depends on how much batter you put in each cup.

Wait a little while for muffins to cool off then eat them plain (though they taste anything but) with a cup of milk or with some butter.

And there you go! Some of the best muffins I've ever had, and I made them! I never thought I'd be cooking anything edible, let alone delicious.
